Film Adaptation for The Girls

The Girls by Lori Lansens

Rose (camera angle so you can only see Rose’s face):

I have never looked into my sister’s eyes. I’ve never driven a car. Or slept through the night. I’ve never climbed a tree or faded into the crowd.

Ruby (camera angle so you can only see Ruby’s face):

It’s Ruby Darlen. Who wants to know about a couple of sisters who work at the library in a boring small town.

(Lens zooms out and swivels to front to reveal the twins)

… even if we are joined by the head?

Ruby: Do you think I’m pretty, Frankie?

Frankie: You’re a mutt.

Ruby: Seriously.

Frankie: You’re I don’t know…I mean, you’d be, you know, if you weren’t like that it would be different. ……. Yeah I guess you would be.

Ruby: (huge smile)

(As rating, cast list, and date roles on screen)

Rose:
I’ve seen inside my sister’s soul. Sleep is for suckers. I like the bus just fine. And though I’ve never climbed a tree, I’ve scaled a mountain, and that’s a hell of a thing.
